Overview
This role involves supporting financial planning and analysis by organizing financial information into clear views of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are essential.
You may update forecasts, review actual results against a budget, prepare management reports, and test how changes in assumptions can affect expected outcomes. Responsibilities include organizing inputs, checking calculations, and summarizing the most meaningful drivers.
Variance analysis should explain not only whether results are higher or lower, but also—where information allows—the operational or financial drivers behind the movement and whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Responsibilities
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, explaining meaningful variances.
- Review source information and validate calculations before analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
Requirements
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.

- Good judgment is required when information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating sources, documenting limitations, and avoiding overstatement of certainty.
