Overview
This Financial Analyst role focuses on producing dependable financial analysis to support planning and informed decision-making. Responsibilities include maintaining reports, comparing actual results with expectations, and helping communicate important performance drivers.
Work involves moving between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions during the same week. Across these activities, calculations must be checked, assumptions must be clear, and conclusions must be presented in a way that supports decisions.
Financial models and schedules should remain understandable after the immediate task is complete, with clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas to support review by others and reduce the risk of unnoticed errors.
Responsibilities
- Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods; explain meaningful variances.
- Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
Requirements
- Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
Forecasting requires handling uncertainty: assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations, and you should be comfortable presenting alternative scenarios when a single estimate would create a false sense of precision.
Because this position is remote, dependable communication and self-management are important. You will be expected to organize your work, respond to reasonable requests for updates, and use shared digital tools in a way that keeps responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
