Financial Analyst

Overview

This role is a full-time, entry-level Financial Analyst position for candidates located in the United States. Work is remote.

Salary: $69,000–$77,000 per year

Responsibilities

• Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
• Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
• Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
• Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, explaining meaningful variances.
• Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
• Perform variance analysis beyond stating whether a number is higher or lower—identify operational or financial drivers behind movements when the information allows.
• Determine which accounts or operating factors contributed to movement between plan and actual performance.
• Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.

Requirements

• Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
• Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
• Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
• Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
• Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
• Ability to identify what changed, understand assumptions behind results, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove.
