Overview
This role supports budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis of business performance. The Financial Analyst is responsible for interpreting financial information and explaining what the numbers mean in practical terms.
Responsibilities
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Go beyond stating that a number is higher or lower by identifying drivers behind movements (where the information allows) and explaining whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Requirements
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
- Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
- Good judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent, including investigating the source, documenting limitations, and avoiding presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
- Ability to work full-time remotely within the United States with steady follow-through, organized communication, and independent completion of assigned responsibilities while asking timely questions when clarification is needed.
