Overview
This role is for a Financial Analyst supporting stakeholders with spreadsheet-based analysis, careful review of assumptions, variance explanations, and trend reporting. Work includes moving between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions—often within the same week.
Financial models and schedules must remain understandable after the immediate task is complete, using clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas so others can review the work and updates are less likely to introduce unnoticed errors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
Variance analysis should go beyond identifying whether a value is higher or lower. Where information allows, identify operational or financial drivers behind movement and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Requirements
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind a financial change.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Clear written communication skills, including summarizing financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
