Overview

This Financial Analyst role focuses on producing dependable financial analysis to support planning and informed decision-making. Responsibilities include maintaining reports, comparing actual results with expectations, and helping communicate key performance drivers.

You may work across financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week. Calculations must be checked, assumptions must be clear, and conclusions must be presented in a way that supports decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods; explain meaningful variances.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Ability to learn company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Clear written communication; ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.
  • Variance analysis should go beyond stating that a number is higher or lower; when the information allows, identify operational or financial drivers behind movement and whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or needs further review.
  • Deliver technically reliable financial work that is useful to decision-makers, supported by clear assumptions, reasonable checks, and concise explanations of key drivers.
