Overview

This role involves a Financial Analyst who can combine strong spreadsheet skills with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends. The analyst will help stakeholders understand what changed and why it may matter.

Work will often begin by comparing plan versus actual performance. You will identify which accounts or operating factors drove movement, verify underlying information, and communicate findings with appropriate context.

Forecasting requires transparency around uncertainty. Assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations, and you should be comfortable presenting alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision—particularly when outcomes depend on variables that may change.

Responsibilities

  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.

Requirements

  • Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Strong variance analysis approach: go beyond stating results are higher or lower; identify drivers behind movement where information allows, and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
  • Good judgment when information is incomplete or inconsistent: investigate the source, document limitations, and avoid presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
