Overview
This role supports budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and business performance analysis. The position is designed for someone who can work carefully with financial information and explain what the numbers mean in practical terms.
Work includes building and maintaining financial models and schedules so they remain understandable after the immediate task is complete. Clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas help enable review and reduce the chance that future updates introduce unnoticed errors.
Responsibilities
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.
- Provide variance analysis that goes beyond higher/lower explanations by identifying operational or financial drivers behind movements when the information allows and determining whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or require further review.
Requirements
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind a financial change.
- Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
- Ability to identify what changed, understand underlying assumptions, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove.
