Overview

This remote full-time Financial Analyst role involves organizing financial information into clear views of actual performance, expected results, and the drivers behind differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are essential.

You may work across financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week. Calculations should be verified, assumptions clearly documented, and conclusions presented in a way that supports decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and items requiring follow-up.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, explaining meaningful variances.
  • Perform variance analysis beyond identifying whether a figure is higher or lower—when possible, identify operational or financial drivers and assess whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Requirements

  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to verifying financial information.
  • Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
