Overview

This role involves performing financial analysis that combines spreadsheet-based work with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends. You will help stakeholders understand both what changed and why it may matter.

The position includes both routine reporting and forward-looking analysis. Some tasks follow regular financial cycles, while others require comparing scenarios, investigating variances, or connecting financial results to underlying operating activity.

Financial models and schedules should remain understandable after the immediate task is complete through clear labeling, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Present alternative scenarios as needed, ensuring assumptions are visible rather than hidden within calculations.

Requirements

  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work full-time and remotely within the United States.
