Overview
This role is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and distributing monthly managerial reports. The position involves compiling data for annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, as well as participating in financial analysis for special projects.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Prepare monthly managerial reports and quarterly presentations for assigned practice groups and departments.
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast/prior periods) and translate results into clear written narratives and actionable insights for business partners.
- Analyze financial data, draw conclusions, and present recommendations on decisions and actions.
- Prepare practice group and client profitability analyses and develop recommendations for improvement opportunities.
- Support departments with ad hoc analysis requests, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of data and reports.
- Support the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes by gathering inputs, validating assumptions, and maintaining driver-based planning templates/models for assigned areas.
- Develop and communicate narratives and conclusions to departments and the FP&A Director.
- Assist in preparing lateral and office pro-forma financials.
- Maintain financial models for forecasting, planning, and decision support.
- Own data validation and reconciliation checks for assigned reports to ensure accuracy and auditability.
- Assist in creating presentation content (charts, commentary, takeaways) for practice group/department reviews and leadership-facing materials to increase efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve data quality in reporting and planning cycles.
Secondary Duties:
- Support financial systems and reporting tools through testing, troubleshooting, and user acceptance activities for new reports, enhancements, or upgrades.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve data quality in reporting and planning cycles.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, or financial planning.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles.
- Familiarity with law firm economics and financial modeling is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with FP&A and reporting tools such as Adaptive Planning, Pigment, Business Objects Web Intelligence, Power BI, or other OLAP tools is advantageous.

Working Conditions
- This position may be performed remotely but requires commuting distance to the Dallas office for occasional visits.
- Long hours are required periodically.
