Overview

This role is responsible for building and running the venture and private equity business. You will own the sector end to end—developing the strategy for winning it, building relationships and partnerships, defining product priorities, and producing the P&L. You will build on the organization’s platform, balance sheet, and teams to make it the primary financial institution for venture and private equity.

The role is modeled on sector coverage at an investment bank and works closely with product, credit, risk, and member experience teams. The position reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Own venture and private equity sector strategy from partner identification through execution
  • Build and manage relationships with decision-makers across sponsors, venture firms, and related institutions
  • Identify which relationships and partnerships matter most to drive large numbers of owners onto the platform
  • Define and influence product priorities required to win and retain sector customers
  • Produce and manage the sector P&L
  • Structure partnerships and negotiate referral economics
  • Drive partner onboarding through term sheet execution without support
  • Work directly with internal product, credit, risk, and member experience teams to deliver and service the offering

Requirements

  • 7 to 12 years in investment banking, private credit, private equity, or venture, or a senior commercial seat inside venture and private equity; demonstrable record of originating business (not servicing it)
  • Active network in venture and private equity; ability to name the 50 people who matter and reach them on short notice
  • Fluent in how funds and their portfolio companies move money, including:
    • capital calls and distributions
    • portfolio treasury and credit
    • operating-partner priorities
    • what a portfolio CFO requires to move a banking relationship
  • Comfort structuring partnerships, negotiating referral economics, and working through a term sheet without support
  • Ability to build your own models; banker-level Excel and working understanding of unit economics of deposits, cards, and credit

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fintech, banking, or lending, or selling a financial product to business owners
  • Standing in venture and private equity (e.g., podcast, newsletter, conference stage, or board seat at a trade body)
  • Investing, advisory, or operating experience in a company in venture and private equity

Compensation & Benefits

  • $275,000 - $325,000 a year
  • Base salary: $275,000 to $325,000, adjusted for location and experience
  • Variable compensation: targeted at 100% of base; paid on the revenue the sector generates for the organization, including owners sourced through your partnerships
  • Equity: eligible for equity compensation
    • First year: a guaranteed variable component while the book is built, agreed at offer
  • Final compensation within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and interview performance
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan
