Overview
This role supports the Complex Tax Operations team, focusing on indirect tax reporting and filing requirements globally. The position involves managing complex escalations, improving operational effectiveness, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support and scale tax operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage high-risk, cross-functional escalations lacking clear procedures
- Drive accountability through metrics, project tracking, and operational reporting
- Investigate recurring issues to identify root causes
- Collaborate across teams to remove blockers and prevent repeat failures
- Act as an escalation partner for leadership visibility and coordinated resolution
- Support operational readiness and respond promptly to external changes impacting tax operations
- Ensure timely follow-through and closure on issues, decisions, and action items
- Provide visibility into friction points, risks, and remediation strategies
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant indirect filing experience in VAT and/or GST/HST
- Deep knowledge of global indirect tax issues and solutions within the technology industry
- Proven ability to investigate complex issues and drive them to resolution
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex technical tax issues clearly to non-tax team members
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, high-accountability environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or professional qualification in tax or accounting (e.g., CPA, Chartered Accountant)
- Familiarity with LLM and/or SQL
- Experience with non-US tax registrations and communication with international tax authorities
- Background in tax operations, financial services, or regulated operational environments
- Understanding of operational workflows such as filing processes, user operations, and risk management
- Experience partnering with operations leads and data analysts
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual US base salary range: $100,500 - $150,700 (may vary by experience, qualifications, and location)
- Additional benefits may include equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and wellness stipends
Location & Work Arrangement
- This role is available as hybrid, either in an office or remote location (defined as 35+ miles or 56+ km from an office)
- Office-based employees are expected to spend at least 50% of their time in the local office or with users
- Remote employees are expected to work primarily from home but may attend team meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events
- The organization does not cover relocation costs for remote work
