Overview

This role is ideal for candidates based in the Greater Columbus, OH area, with remote opportunities available for those in the Eastern and Central Time Zones. The position requires travel 3-4 times per year to the Dublin, OH campus for approximately one week each visit.

The tax function oversees the design, implementation, and defense of tax strategies for both domestic and international operations. Responsibilities include recording and reporting tax expenses in compliance with US GAAP, Non-GAAP, IFRS, and SEC requirements, managing tax due diligence for corporate transactions, preparing tax compliance returns for all jurisdictions, monitoring legislative and regulatory changes, and developing tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities. The team also serves as subject matter experts on tax-related matters such as payroll tax and employee benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement global tax planning initiatives
  • Research and analyze U.S. and non-U.S. tax laws, regulations, and treaties; communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Prepare tax analyses including pros, cons, and cost/benefit evaluations
  • Prepare and review step plans and tax technical memoranda
  • Communicate tax plans with Directors of Tax Planning and M&A and broader management
  • Assist Directors of Tax Planning and M&A with workstreams related to mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions
  • Collaborate with Treasury, Legal, Accounting, and business units to implement tax planning initiatives
  • Coordinate with Tax Provision and Compliance teams regarding transactions affecting tax returns and tax provision calculations
  • Support the Tax Controversy team with relevant information as needed
  • Research, analyze, and document changes to key legislation impacting the organization
  • Manage external resources assisting with tax planning projects
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of International Tax/Tax Planning experience at a Big Four Public Accounting Firm or Law Firm, or 7+ years of global tax experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • MST, Law Degree, and/or CPA preferred
  • Experience in a large multinational corporate tax department and/or Big Four accounting firm highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and international tax rules, including U.S. tax reform and treasury regulations; basic understanding of foreign tax rules desired
  • Working knowledge of transfer pricing concepts preferred
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 preferred
  • Advanced computer skills or ability to quickly learn new software (tax research tools, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) preferred
  • Ability to model tax impacts of planning and M&A initiatives and U.S. tax reform impacts preferred
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects concurrently preferred
  • Ability and interest in utilizing AI tools to improve processes and identify efficiencies in tax planning and M&A preferred

Role Expectations

Reporting to one of two Directors of Global Tax Planning and M&A, this position is responsible for coordinating and implementing tax planning strategies that support the organization’s financial and business goals. The role requires a high degree of technical and strategic ability, urgency in execution, and the capacity to summarize complex regulatory changes into actionable plans. Experience preparing and reviewing restructuring step plans, calculating global tax impacts, and conducting tax technical research is essential. Strong project management skills are critical, including managing internal and external stakeholders and tracking project expenses against budgets.
