Overview

An organization leading advancements in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager. This role focuses on managing US indirect tax compliance, primarily sales and use tax, along with property tax and indirect tax incentives compliance. The position involves overseeing tax filings, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions, supporting audits, and enhancing tax processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end sales and use tax compliance, including registrations, tax return preparation, review, and filing across multiple US jurisdictions
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings, payments, and reconciliations
  • Monitor nexus and interpret changes in state and local tax regulations across various US states, assessing business impact
  • Support and manage indirect tax audits by responding to information requests and liaising with tax authorities
  • Maintain and improve tax determination, reporting, and compliance processes
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Legal, and Operations teams to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions
  • Review and maintain taxability matrices and exemption certificate processes
  • Assist with tax technology and automation initiatives, including optimization of Oracle NetSuite and other tools
  • Support special projects such as nexus studies, voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs), and process improvements
  • Coordinate real and personal property tax filings, assessments, and related compliance activities across different US locations
  • Manage multiple internal and external stakeholders across different business units
  • Monitor tax risks and participate in quarter-end and year-end closing activities related to indirect taxes
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support scalable tax processes in a dynamic business environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field; CPA or MST preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in indirect tax, with a strong focus on US sales and use tax
  • Proven experience with multi-state tax compliance and filings
  • Experience handling or supporting state tax audits
  • Familiarity with Oracle NetSuite or similar ERP systems is required
  • Experience with tax engines such as Avalara or Vertex is a plus
  • Strong understanding of US indirect tax regulations and nexus rules
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
