Overview

A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Jr. Accountant to support accounting operations and financial planning activities. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports informed decision-making, and helps maintain strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Accounting Duties

  • Prepare and record journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance
  • Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries
  • Assist with audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries

Finance & Analysis Duties

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Analyze financial trends, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational metrics
  • Prepare dashboards and management reports
  • Assist with modeling scenarios to support business decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • 1–4 years of accounting experience with financial analysis
  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with government contracting accounting packages similar to PROCAS
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and government accounting (including indirect rates and flexibly-priced contracts)
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Prior experience in corporate finance, public accounting, or financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
  • Demonstrated expertise in using Power BI services to support financial analysis and reporting
  • Ability to design and implement dynamic dashboards and custom reports providing real-time analytics for forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking
  • Skilled at translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights to assist leadership in strategic decision-making and drive business growth
