Overview
A growing organization is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Jr. Accountant to support accounting operations and financial planning activities. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports informed decision-making, and helps maintain strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Accounting Duties
- Prepare and record journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance
- Support preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation entries
- Assist with audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
Finance & Analysis Duties
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Analyze financial trends, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational metrics
- Prepare dashboards and management reports
- Assist with modeling scenarios to support business decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- 1–4 years of accounting experience with financial analysis
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with government contracting accounting packages similar to PROCAS
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and government accounting (including indirect rates and flexibly-priced contracts)
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Prior experience in corporate finance, public accounting, or financial planning and analysis (FP&A)
- Demonstrated expertise in using Power BI services to support financial analysis and reporting
- Ability to design and implement dynamic dashboards and custom reports providing real-time analytics for forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking
- Skilled at translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights to assist leadership in strategic decision-making and drive business growth
