Lead Cost Accountant

Overview

The organization is seeking a Lead Cost Accountant to lead cost accounting and inventory-focused analysis and reconciliations to maintain an accurate inventory system. This role includes oversight of at least one direct report and partnership with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Cost Accounting

• Oversee at least one direct report.
• Manage and support cost accounting functions for multiple sites.
• Analyze costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and lead cost reduction projects.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies within the inventory sub-ledger within ERP.
• Assist with review of quarterly inventory reserve calculations.
• Perform analysis of actual versus standard variances.
• Conduct annual standard cost updates.
• Perform month-end closing cost of sales analysis.
• Partner on internal and external audit requests; administer cost accounting-related SOX controls.
• Support budget preparation and analysis related to product costs.
• Perform other responsibilities as defined by the Divisional Controller.

Inventory Control

• Participate in divisional efforts in inventory reduction.
• Track scrap and obsolete inventory.
• Work closely with Operations on physical inventory counts.
• Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies, cycle counts, and other inventory functions as requested.
• Perform other responsibilities as defined by the Divisional Controller.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 8 years’ experience in cost accounting.
• SAP experience preferred.
