Overview

An organization focused on clean energy lending is seeking an experienced Lending and Finance Analyst to support end-to-end lending operations, from origination through servicing. This remote role based in the USA involves financial modeling at both portfolio and project levels, supporting solar financing for nonprofits through loans, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and leases. There is potential for growth into Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Accounting responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Loan Originations (40%)

    • Perform underwriting including due diligence review and evaluation of loan requests according to loan policy.
    • Analyze cash flow projections and borrower financial statements.
    • Prepare credit memos in consultation with the solar team and secure necessary approvals from internal staff and loan committee.
    • Coordinate lending process steps and document compilation for closing.
    • Work with legal counsel and borrowers to prepare and review loan agreements and obtain signatures.
    • Support periodic updates to solar financing products based on market conditions and client needs.
  • Loan Servicing & Portfolio Management (30%)

    • Coordinate with the solar team and outsourced accounts payable to ensure proper payment processing after lien releases and installer work completion.
    • Manage outsourced accounts receivable team to ensure accurate invoicing and timely collections; support delinquency management as needed.
    • Conduct annual borrower performance reviews to ensure compliance with loan terms and funder requirements.
    • Collaborate with asset management to monitor solar and storage asset performance.
    • Manage quarterly loan loss reserve recording process with accounting.
  • Investor Relations & Finance Support (30%)

    • Maintain asset and liability tracking and forecasting models.
    • Provide modeling support and prepare diligence responses for capital raising efforts.
    • Validate financial and impact data accuracy for investor reporting.
    • Compile and ensure timely reporting to investors and the CDFI Fund; monitor loan pipeline and balance sheet compliance.
    • Support cash forecasting for restricted and unrestricted funds at the entity level.
    • Assist in refining checklists and workflows to improve lending and finance process efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of lending experience within a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) or similar environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage lending and servicing processes accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience with financial modeling and portfolio management.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple teams and external parties including legal counsel and outsourced finance teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to capital raising, strategic financial planning, and process development.
  • Experience with solar financing products such as loans, PPAs, and leases.
