Mortgage - Underwriter

Overview

The organization is seeking talented Mortgage Underwriters to join its team. This role supports remote underwriting, with the ability to work from anywhere in the nation. The position includes an aggressive bonus structure, with some underwriters able to double their base salary per year. The team uses a pod system to promote work-life balance and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor, and FHA/VA guidelines.
• Underwrite the entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans, ensuring an “investment” quality loan product.
• Verify the accuracy of calculations and maintain data integrity.
• Complete all required underwriting worksheets found in Fast Trac 360 Resource Center.
• Assist with training new underwriters.
• Recommend loan disposition to the underwriting manager for loan amounts in excess of authority limitation.
• Maintain required underwriting productivity standards and comply with:
  • 48 hour underwriting turnaround time
  • 24 hour turnaround time for clearing conditions
• Strive to meet 3 underwriting decisions/day within allotted time.
• Communicate underwriting decisions to appropriate parties both verbally and in writing.
• Maintain underwriting activity logs and provide monthly underwriting reports to the underwriting manager.
• Serve as a point of contact for processors and correspondents for general underwriting guideline interpretations and questions on specific loan files.
• Respond to post-closing reviews and audits in a timely fashion.
• Perform related duties as directed by the Underwriter or Operations Manager.

Requirements

• Minimum three years of mortgage underwriting experience, with solid working knowledge of underwriting guidelines.
• Experience underwriting private investor and private mortgage insurance guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage business relationships.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-through skills.
• Excellent analytical, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Technologically proficient.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

• USD $51.93/Hr (minimum)
• USD $51.93/Hr (maximum)
