Overview

This role is a remote Manager position supporting the Not-for-Profit team within Client Accounting Advisory. The employer is a hybrid organization, and while the role does not require duties to be performed within proximity of an office, remote employees may be required to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

The Client Accounting Advisory team provides accounting, advisory, and technology services, including:

  • Maintaining books and records
  • Financial statement close management reporting
  • Assistance with state and local tax filings
  • Virtual controller/CFO services
  • Accounting technology solution development

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Not-for-Profit accounting team, responsible for client execution and timely delivery of work products by team members
  • Independently perform and support complex accounting services for clients
  • Lead global teams on client work and provide guidance and training on accounting principles and calculations
  • Handle client and/or internal stakeholder inquiries, understand industry and client challenges, and provide solutions and improvements related to client deliverables
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities to provide value to clients
  • Complete duties associated with managing teams, including ensuring goals and benchmarks are met (e.g., delivering monthly financials, developing skills for career growth, working within budget and time parameters)
  • Manage clients and develop and maintain client relationships, including proactive communications and exceeding client expectations
  • Ensure timely completion of client billings and assist with managing accounts receivable
  • Develop expertise in required technology for performance and execution; ensure quality control procedures are executed and adhered to by all team members
  • Identify areas for process improvement for client work and/or practice operations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the industry vertical(s) supported
  • Participate in mentoring, recruiting, retention, and team-building activities
  • Conduct business professionally and with respect for others
  • Follow regulations and professional ethics of the AICPA and the state society
  • Maintain appropriate compliance with firmwide and local office policies and procedures
  • Provide proactive relationships and communications with clients, staff, and internal stakeholders
  • Respond timely and accurately to internal team and client requests
  • Solicit internal experts across the organization to support solutions for client challenges

Requirements

  • BA required
  • Proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes and procedures such as cash management, AR/AP, month end close, payroll and benefits
  • Strong GAAP experience, including hands-on controllership functions related to consolidations, GL close, and financial reporting
  • Experience supporting CAS engagements for nonprofit, governmental, and federally funded entities, leveraging expertise in Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), grant compliance, indirect cost allocations, internal controls, and audit readiness
  • Strong Non-Profit experience
  • Strong experience managing the full lifecycle of federal and state grants, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200)
  • Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project)
  • QuickBooks, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct experience preferred
  • Strong project and time management skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail; action-oriented (self-starter, team player, detail-oriented)
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
  • Significant knowledge of accounting and finance processes and functions, including strong understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA and/or CPA license a plus

Compensation & Benefits

In Maryland, the salary range for an Advisory Manager is $120,000 to $180,000. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent on the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and applicable employment laws.

Location
