Overview

This role is for a Senior Manager to join the Not-for-Profit team in the Client Accounting Advisory practice. The employer is a hybrid organization; most professionals work within commuting distance of an office. This position is considered remote, meaning day-to-day duties do not require work to be performed within proximity of an office location. Remote employees may be asked to be present at an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Not-for-Profit accounting team, responsible for client execution and timely delivery of client work products by team members.
  • Independently perform and support complex accounting services for clients.
  • Lead a global team with client work and skills development; provide guidance and training on accounting principles and calculations.
  • Handle inquiries from clients and/or internal stakeholders; understand industry and client challenges to recommend solutions and improvements to business operations and client deliverables.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities to add value to clients.
  • Complete responsibilities associated with managing teams, ensuring team performance against goals and benchmarks (e.g., delivering monthly financials, supporting career growth, and working within budget and time parameters).
  • Manage clients and develop/maintain client relationships, including proactive communications, exceeding client expectations, completing client billings timely, and assisting with managing accounts receivable.
  • Develop expertise in the use of all technology required for work execution.
  • Ensure quality control procedures are executed and adhered to by all team members.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities for client work and/or practice operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the industry vertical(s) being supported.
  • Participate in mentoring, recruiting, retention, and team-building activities.
  • Conduct work professionally and with respect for others.
  • Follow AICPA regulations and professional ethics, and state society requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with all firm-wide and local office policies and procedures.
  • Build proactive relationships and provide timely, accurate communication with clients, staff, and internal stakeholders.
  • Respond timely and accurately to internal team and client requests.
  • Solicit internal experts across the organization to assist with solutions to client challenges.

Requirements

  • BA required. MBA and/or CPA license a plus.
  • Proven ability to drive and lead corporate accounting processes and procedures including cash management, AR/AP, month-end close, payroll, and benefits.
  • Strong GAAP experience, including hands-on experience performing controllership functions related to consolidations, GL close, and financial reporting.
  • Lead CAS engagements for nonprofit, governmental, and federally funded entities, leveraging expertise in Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), grant compliance, indirect cost allocations, internal controls, and audit readiness.
  • Strong Non Profit experience.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project).
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Significant knowledge of accounting and finance processes, with strong understanding of financial statement preparation and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • QuickBooks, NetSuite, and Sage Intacct experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • In Maryland, the salary range for an Advisory Senior Manager is $150,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation within the range will depend on the individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and applicable employment laws.

Location

  • Remote (no requirement to perform duties within proximity of an office). Remote employees may need to attend an office with scheduled notice for client work, team meetings, or trainings.
