Overview

Position: Regional Senior Accountant - Midwest
Location: Kentucky / Nebraska / Remote
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 per year plus discretionary bonus

This role supports a regional member firm specializing in commercial HVAC solutions. The position is part of a multi-billion dollar national enterprise comprising multiple operating entities across various regions.

Responsibilities

General Ledger & Month-End Close

  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Record and reconcile commission accruals and payments in compliance with revenue recognition policies.
  • Support month-end close processes adhering to corporate deadlines and regional schedules.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly variance and flux reports on key accounts.
  • Ensure all financial data complies with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist with consolidation and regional reporting under management direction.

Technical Accounting & Compliance

  • Apply U.S. GAAP principles to ensure proper accounting treatment.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of corporate accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Assist with audit preparation and provide required documentation.
  • Help maintain compliance with sales and use tax filings.
  • Stay updated on accounting standards and contribute to policy discussions.

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Support ERP system usage (Oracle or similar), ensuring data integrity and recommending configuration improvements.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring accounting tasks.
  • Collaborate with teams during ERP rollouts, integrations, and onboarding of new entities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with FP&A to ensure data accuracy and support management reporting.
  • Partner with regional finance teams (AR, AP, Collections) to align accounting entries and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with Sales to validate commission transactions and revenue recognition.
  • Review supporting schedules and reconciliations with Staff Accountants.
  • Communicate with Corporate Accounting on policies, systems, and intercompany matters.
  • Coordinate with regional finance management on project reviews and cash flow activities.

Continuous Learning & Growth

  • Pursue knowledge expansion in multi-entity consolidations, process improvements, and financial analysis.
  • Support finance transformation initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and GAAP guidance to junior accounting staff.

Requirements

  • 3 to 6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in multi-entity or complex organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or CPA eligibility preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
  • Proven experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as Oracle, NetSuite, or similar; intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience using Infor software is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent communication and time management abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and continuous improvement-oriented.
