Remote Senior Tax Manager - 180k-250k

Overview

A Chicago-headquartered firm with offices nationwide is seeking a Senior Tax Manager or Tax Director to join their team fully remotely. This role offers a balanced workload with a busy season averaging 50–55 hours per week and annual billable hours under 1,300. The position includes unlimited PTO, strong performance bonuses, and potential equity opportunities for long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of clients across industries including real estate, construction, technology, retail, manufacturing, and professional services
• Lead tax planning and strategy, proactively identifying opportunities for clients
• Review complex tax returns including S Corporations, C Corporations, partnerships, and individual filings
• Mentor and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning
• Stay current on tax laws and translate changes into actionable guidance for clients
• Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic initiatives, growth, and business development

Requirements

• Active CPA or EA license (required)
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 7 years of tax experience, including at least 5 years in a management role
• Strong technical expertise in corporate, partnership, and individual taxation
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to enhance team performance
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of ownership
• Comfortable and effective working in a fully remote, collaborative environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $180,000 to $250,000+
• Busy season workload: approximately 50–55 hours per week
• Annual billable hours: less than 1,300
