Remote Staff Accountant

Overview

A public accounting firm is seeking a Remote Staff Accountant to provide full-cycle bookkeeping, month-end close, and financial reporting services for a portfolio of approximately 10-15 client entities. This full-time position is remote and requires applicants to be located within the United States.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting for multiple clients using QuickBooks Online and Desktop
• Perform monthly reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and prepare financial statements
• Build monthly sales journals from POS reports such as Square, Heartland, and Toast
• Recognize payroll expenses from payroll and POS reports including Square, Heartland, Toast, ADP, and QuickBooks
• Prepare, pay, and file multi-jurisdiction sales tax returns on a monthly or quarterly basis
• Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for assigned clients
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely deliverables
• Track work and documentation using Karbon
• Support quality control and ensure adherence to firm standards

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience in public accounting or a client-based accounting firm environment
• Strong skills in QuickBooks Online and Desktop; QBO ProAdvisor certification is a plus
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes
• Experience with multi-jurisdiction sales tax filing
• Experience recognizing payroll expenses from third-party reports (Square, Toast, Heartland, ADP)
• Strong communication and client service skills
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
• Proficiency with Karbon, ADP, and Microsoft Office
• Experience with hospitality, food & beverage, or service industry clients is preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $75,000 to $85,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications
