Overview
A private equity-backed fintech company is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its expanding finance team. This role is suited for an accounting professional experienced in SaaS revenue recognition, month-end close, and operational accounting who wants to contribute significantly in a high-growth setting.
Responsibilities
- Manage revenue accounting processes within the revenue recognition platform and support monthly close activities
- Own parts of the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis related to revenue and associated accounts
- Prepare and record journal entries for revenue, deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, and related balance sheet accounts
- Analyze financial results and trends, providing insights to management to aid decision-making
- Prepare recurring revenue reporting and analysis for leadership
- Review customer contracts and assist with revenue recognition assessments in accordance with ASC 606
- Manage order-to-cash activities, including revenue schedules and system maintenance to ensure accurate revenue recognition
- Collaborate with Sales Operations and Accounts Receivable to support accurate billing and revenue realization
- Assist with implementation and optimization of systems, processes, and controls related to revenue recognition and usage-based billing models
- Support external audit requests and revenue-related testing
- Drive process improvements through automation, system enhancements, and adoption of emerging technologies
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles
- Strong understanding of month-end close and general ledger accounting
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience working with ERP and CRM systems
- Experience supporting SaaS, software, or subscription-based business models
- Experience with revenue accounting systems
- Demonstrated success improving accounting processes and systems
- Experience supporting external audits
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in leveraging automation and technology to improve accounting processes
