Overview
This role is responsible for ensuring sales incentive compensation is calculated accurately and paid correctly and on time. You will own the system and monthly cycle that supports commission and incentive calculations, including variance judgment, reconciliation across connected platforms, documentation for audit readiness, and administration of compensation plans.
The position reports to the Director of Finance and partners closely with finance, Revenue Operations, HR, Legal, Payroll, Accounting, FP&A, Xactly technical support, and external auditors.
Responsibilities
- Run the recurring commission and incentive calculation cycle, from source data validation through delivery of an approved payment file to Payroll within the monthly close window.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in assignments, splits, credits, quotas, rates, currencies, and adjustments; document every true up and correction before payment is released.
- Reconcile Xactly Incent against Salesforce, HR, payroll, and Finance systems each month and quarter; support close activities, including commission accruals, in partnership with the Revenue Analyst.
- Build and maintain audit-ready documentation and controls so the commission process is repeatable and reviewable.
- Administer Xactly Incent across all company plans, ensuring participant data, access, hierarchies, quotas, rates, and plan assignments remain current as participants join, move, or leave.
- Lead the annual implementation of every compensation plan in Xactly, working with Revenue Operations and the Global Compensation Director through configuration, testing, and approvals.
- Own plan letter administration end to end, from preparation and issuance through signature tracking.
- Convert large datasets into clear reporting on attainment, commissions, and payments; help managers and employees understand plans and statements, including findings they may not want to hear.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in incentive compensation or commission operations.
- Hands-on experience administering Xactly Incent, including plan configuration, participant data, hierarchies, quotas, and rates.
- Strong reconciliation skills with a demonstrated ability to trace variances to root cause across multiple systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups.
- Experience maintaining documented procedures and audit evidence.
- Clear, steady communication when explaining plan mechanics or delivering unwelcome findings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Workday and NetSuite.
- Experience supporting global incentive programs across multiple countries or currencies.
- Experience in a public company, high tech, or SaaS environment.
- Familiarity with US GAAP including ASC 606.
