Overview

This role is responsible for the development, analysis, reporting, and administration of the organization’s sales compensation and commission programs. The position requires strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and financial acumen to administer and validate complex incentive programs and support accurate, timely commission payments.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of sales compensation and commission plans that support the organization’s sales positions, including updates to sales compensation and commission collateral.
  • Maintain and update sales compensation and/or commission program applications, systems, and databases.
  • Follow corporate audit guidelines to ensure accuracy and efficiency in processing system hierarchy and/or commission changes and in preparation of commission and/or compensation statements and files.
  • Monitor sales compensation and commission payout processes to ensure calculations are correct and payments are submitted within specified timelines.
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and customers to respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to sales compensation and commissions.
  • Perform complex data modeling to analyze the design and effectiveness of current sales compensation and commission programs, identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement, and present findings to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analyze data to prepare and distribute reports on commissions, bonuses, sales compensation, and Form 5500 Schedule A information, including financial accruals.
  • Ensure documentation and procedures are updated and maintained; provide onboarding training and deliver training to communicate and explain sales compensation and commission programs.
  • Ensure compensation-related activities comply with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Participate in sales compensation and commission related projects as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in sales compensation, commissions, compensation analysis, and variable pay.
  • Experience administering sales incentive plans.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups (including VLOOKUP with aptitude for learning other analytical tools).
  • Experience analyzing and manipulating large datasets.
  • Experience creating reports, identifying trends, and communicating findings to stakeholders.
  • Experience administering and supporting a large portfolio of sales incentive and commission plans, including interpreting plan designs, calculating payouts, and managing complex compensation structures.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and manipulate large datasets with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to present complex data to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Adherence to ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive compensation information.
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze compensation issues, propose solutions, and recommend improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to create/modify queries and/or reports and present findings.
  • Knowledge of database applications.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, related field, or equivalent related experience.
  • 2+ years of progressive relevant work experience.
  • Or, equivalent military experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with sales compensation management software.
  • Sales compensation plan design knowledge and/or experience.
  • SQL experience.
  • SharePoint.
  • Salesforce.
  • LifePRO and/or Compass experience.
  • Understanding of financial concepts and ability to interpret financial data.
  • MS Reporting Services (SSRS) experience.
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) experience.
  • MS Power BI experience.
  • Experience with data visualization tools and development.
  • Insurance or Finance experience.
  • Industry certification(s).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting base salary range: $55,000 to $77,000.
  • Actual salary may vary by geographic location and is based on factors including qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company equity.
