Overview
A legal services organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and support the integrity of accounting operations. This role is integral to the monthly close process, journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining general ledger accuracy. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with Accounts Payable and cross-functional teams, support audits, and contribute to process improvements and integration efforts related to acquired entities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries with supporting analysis
- Support and participate in the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
- Partner with and provide guidance to the Accounts Payable team
- Respond to internal and external information requests promptly
- Support internal and external audits, including documentation and reconciliation support
- Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and internal controls
- Participate in accounting and system integrations for mergers and acquisitions
- Support accounting projects such as purchase accounting and process improvements
- Assist with ad hoc accounting initiatives as business needs evolve

Education & Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience
- Experience in a law firm or consulting environment is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with Intacct or similar accounting systems preferred
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
- CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred but not required
Location
- This position is 100% remote and supports east to west coast time zones
