Overview
This full-time, remote Senior Accountant role involves managing day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities within a portfolio of fast-growing companies. The position requires ownership of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, month-end close, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting. The role reports to the Financial Controller and demands a detail-oriented, self-directed professional capable of managing competing deadlines in a remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage full accounts receivable and accounts payable cycles across multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely transaction recording.
- Process vendor invoices, manage payment runs, maintain vendor records, monitor outstanding receivables, apply cash receipts, and maintain aging schedules.
- Support payroll processing in coordination with HR and the Financial Controller, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Post payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts regularly.
- Execute month-end close procedures including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Independently formulate, calculate, and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly, escalating issues as needed.
- Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidations across the portfolio.
- Maintain understanding of each entity's chart of accounts and support financial reporting.
- Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting workpapers for internal leadership and external parties.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to build and maintain reports, data summaries, and analytical schedules.
- Support the Financial Controller and accounting leadership with ad hoc analysis and special projects.
Requirements
- 4 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Solid working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processes.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ability to independently formulate, calculate, and post journal entries with appropriate documentation.
- Experience in a multi-entity environment with understanding of intercompany transactions, consolidations, and eliminations.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online; experience with QuickBooks Enterprise is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, self-directed work ethic, and ability to manage deadlines remotely.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for reporting and data analysis.
- Genuine curiosity and comfort with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and workflow automation platforms; ability to discern appropriate AI use is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA.
- Experience in small-to-midsize business environments where accounting staff handle multiple responsibilities.
- Prior experience working directly with or reporting to a Controller or CFO.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary ranging from $60,000 to $90,000 annually.
