Overview
A Senior Accountant role is available within a global accounting team, working closely with the Accounting Manager to support the development of a high-performing accounting organization. This position involves detailed review of work prepared by a Center of Excellence (COE) team, ownership of multiple balance sheet reconciliations, and management of SG&A and COGS accrual processes. The role also contributes to process improvement initiatives and enhances the quality and clarity of financial reporting provided to other departments.
Responsibilities
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and other deliverables prepared by the COE team for accuracy, completeness, proper support, and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Provide constructive feedback to the COE team and collaborate to resolve errors at their root cause.
- Prepare and own multiple monthly balance sheet reconciliations, resolving reconciling items promptly and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Manage SG&A and COGS accrual processes, including preparation, analysis, true-ups, and documentation of methodologies and assumptions.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines and accounting principles are met.
- Identify and investigate variances or discrepancies in financial records, perform fluctuation analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline, standardize, and automate accounting workflows.
- Enhance financial reporting to other departments by improving accuracy, format, and usefulness of recurring and ad hoc reports.
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and support internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather accurate and consistent financial data.
- Manage time effectively to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and balance review responsibilities with individual deliverables.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and accrual accounting (SG&A and COGS).
- Experience reviewing others' work and providing effective feedback, preferably in a shared services or COE environment.
- Proven track record in process improvement, streamlining financial operations, and implementing best practices.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and ERP platforms; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Critical thinking ability to question results, connect activities across accounts, and anticipate downstream impacts.
