Senior Accountant, Captive Management

Overview

A growing insurance management organization is seeking a Senior Accountant (Senior Account Manager) to join their US West Captive Management servicing team. This remote position is based in Utah and focuses on managing the financial and regulatory affairs of a portfolio of captive insurance companies.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with an experienced client account team to deliver high-quality financial and regulatory reports
• Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger
• Prepare and peer review monthly and quarterly financial statements
• Prepare and file premium tax returns
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of regulatory filings
• Communicate daily with clients verbally and in writing
• Manage client financial audits
• Prepare for and attend client Board of Director meetings
• Coordinate with clients' third-party service providers and state regulators

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; CPA designation is a plus but not mandatory
• Minimum of 5 years of financial accounting experience, preferably in captive management or the insurance industry
• Experience in insurance accounting and auditing preferred; commercial or public accounting experience will also be considered
• Proficiency with Excel and financial accounting/general ledger software
• Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel up to 5% domestically as needed
