Senior Accountant

Overview

A rapidly growing finance and accounting consulting firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their remote team. The firm specializes in providing fractional CFO and accounting services to venture-backed emerging growth clients, supporting companies from inception to over $50M in revenue. This role offers the opportunity to work with innovative early-stage companies and contribute to scaling accounting and reporting functions.

This is a remote position with a location preference for candidates based in the San Francisco/Bay Area, Los Angeles/Southern California, New York City, Austin, or Boston. Some travel is required for in-person company events (approximately 2-3 weeks per year) and onboarding training within the first three months.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting duties including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), cash management, payroll, fixed assets (FA), general ledger (GL), and other assigned tasks
• Assist with the monthly close process by posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and conducting ad-hoc financial analysis
• Maintain regular contact and build strong working relationships with various internal groups to ensure high-quality customer service and work product
• Support projects and ad hoc assignments as needed

Requirements

• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with standard accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite, Campfire, Brex, Ramp, Rippling, Gusto, Rillet, or Carta preferred
• Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Fast learner with strong professional curiosity and desire to grow
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Enjoy working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Experience implementing workflow automation or AI-enabled tools preferred; familiarity with generative AI tools and automation platforms is strongly preferred

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience working in fast-paced technology or professional services environments

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary range: $100,000 to $115,000 per year plus bonus
