Overview
A rapidly growing fintech organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a lean, high-performing accounting team. This role involves more than just closing the books; it focuses on building scalable accounting processes, improving controls, leveraging technology, and supporting the finance organization as it scales.
Responsibilities
- Own key areas of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across multiple accounting areas.
- Perform monthly flux and variance analysis to identify key drivers of financial results and explain period-over-period changes.
- Manage and improve accounting processes across the general ledger, including revenue, accounts receivable, accruals, intercompany transactions, and other key areas.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Partnerships, Legal, and Product teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment and efficient workflows.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and enhance accounting operations through technology, AI-enabled tools, and system improvements.
- Design and implement scalable accounting processes, controls, and documentation to support continued growth.
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls that support accurate financial reporting and operational excellence.
- Support external audits by assisting with audit requests, schedules, and documentation.
- Take ownership of issues from identification through implementation, driving improvements to increase team efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (or equivalent).
- Experience in public accounting, industry accounting, or a combination of both.
- Strong GAAP accounting fundamentals and understanding of financial statement impacts.
- Highly detail-oriented with a track record of producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Self-starter capable of independently researching issues, forming recommendations, and exercising sound judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes through automation, technology, system enhancements, or workflow optimization.
- Strong analytical skills to work with large volumes of financial data, identify anomalies, strengthen controls, and support decision-making.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where processes are being built and scaled.
- Clear communicator who collaborates effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Background in fintech, banking, payments, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth technology company.
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Exposure to AI-driven process improvement initiatives or accounting workflow optimization projects.

Compensation & Benefits
The total rewards package includes base salary, equity (stock options/RSUs), and benefits. Salary and equity ranges are competitive within the SaaS and fintech industries and are regularly updated based on reliable compensation survey data. Offers are based on experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity.
Target base salary ranges for this role are:
- US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $121,700 - $152,100
- US employees outside of these metropolitan areas: $109,500 - $136,900
- Canadian employees (any location): 115,000 CAD - 143,700 CAD
Location
This role is open to candidates in the United States and Canada, with salary ranges varying by location.
