Overview
This role involves managing and overseeing financial operations within the information industry sector. The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining the integrity of accounting processes. Key duties include leading month-end and year-end closing activities, analyzing financial data to support strategic decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying process improvements and implementing best accounting practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external auditors to facilitate audits and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning by providing detailed financial analysis and insights.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations; assist in tax filings and reporting.
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff to foster professional development and uphold high-quality work standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in information technology or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification.
