Overview

This role involves serving as a Senior Accountant responsible for preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and assisting with external audit requests. The position requires hands-on accounting experience and a strong understanding of accounting principles and company practices to perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses. Additional finance department support duties will be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage core accounting processes including tracking and recording prepaid expenses, fixed assets (acquisitions, depreciation, disposals), payroll entries, and related accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain workforce and compensation-related accounting by managing FTE schedules and evaluating reserves for short- and long-term bonus liabilities.
  • Record claims-related journal entries (including Incurred But Not Reported - IBNR) and support accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare claim reserving and cost analysis schedules using knowledge of reserving models.
  • Support monthly close and reporting activities: prepare financial statements, perform account analysis, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and resolve outstanding items.
  • Analyze financial performance and payroll-related costs by evaluating expense and salary fluctuations against prior periods and budget, and communicate insights to senior leadership.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and organizational policies regarding privacy, confidentiality, and security of health and other designated information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of financial reporting and budgeting systems.
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background checks including criminal, employment, education, healthcare sanctions, prohibited parties, and a 10-panel drug screen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing deadlines and project requirements.
  • Strong teamwork skills.

Working Conditions

  • Remote work from home with company-provided equipment.
  • Requires prolonged sitting and frequent use of computer and phone systems.
  • A quiet workspace with minimal background noise is necessary for calls.
  • High-speed internet service required with minimum download speed of 20 Mbps, upload speed of 5 Mbps, and maximum latency of 100 milliseconds.
  • Must be able to maintain a stationary sitting position, communicate effectively, perform repetitive motions with arms and fingers, interpret data, problem solve, make decisions, organize and plan, and maintain a professional attitude.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 plus an annual performance-based discretionary incentive.
