Overview

A growing financial services firm specializing in real estate financial analysis and accounting support is seeking a Senior Accountant – Property Accounting. The organization serves private equity investors, developers, fund managers, brokers, and other real estate industry leaders, managing transactions ranging from $25 million to over $500 million across the US and European markets.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate properties in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist in preparing annual property budgets and forecasts; monitor budget variances and provide detailed analysis.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries for property-related transactions including rent, expenses, accruals, and capital expenditures.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes for property transactions ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations in line with lease agreements.
  • Assist with property tax filings and coordinate with external tax consultants to ensure compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Perform financial analyses including variance analysis, trend analysis, ROI evaluation, and identifying performance insights.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control within property accounting.

Requirements

  • CA qualification preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years of accounting experience, with relevant property accounting experience.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Yardi (mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
