Overview
This role supports Specialty Benefits within Employer & Individual. Specialty Benefits includes Dental, Vision, Stop Loss, and other products. The position will support a recently transitioned block of Stop Loss business and also cover month-end close support and analytics to help ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Research and investigate project data to confirm alignment with accounting practices
- Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
- Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month-end close
- Prepare journal entries and review accounting classifications in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Prepare documentation supporting external and internal audits
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis, investigating issues and providing explanations and interpretation
- Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position
- Assist with or lead the month-end and quarterly close process for assigned businesses or groups
- Perform work independently on less structured, more complex issues
- Serve as a resource to others
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS or equivalent
- 1+ years of professional accounting experience
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial statements
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Beginner to intermediate proficiency with SQL or similar languages
- Proven ability to assess and interpret customer needs and requirements
- Proven ability to identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems
- Proven ability to solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $60,200 - $107,400 annually (based on full-time employment)
- Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and more
- Benefits may include a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and a 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements)

Location
- Remote work: from anywhere within the U.S.
- For hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area: required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week
