Senior Accountant, Revenue Accounting

Overview

A healthcare technology organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support the revenue accounting function. The role focuses on executing core revenue processes, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, and partnering cross-functionally to support accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis. The Senior Accountant will apply technical accounting guidance across a growing portfolio of SaaS products and professional services revenue streams. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting.

Responsibilities

Revenue Close & Reporting

• Support month-end close activities related to revenue accounting, including preparation of revenue journal entries in accordance with US GAAP and applicable revenue recognition guidelines
• Reconcile revenue-related accounts such as deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and accrued revenue
• Investigate and resolve revenue discrepancies, billing issues, and account variances as needed
• Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting, including fluctuation analysis and preparation of supporting schedules
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue reporting in compliance with GAAP (ASC 606)

Revenue Recognition & Technical Accounting

• Apply ASC 606 guidance to standard and moderately complex customer arrangements
• Document revenue recognition conclusions and maintain supporting documentation
• Support updates to accounting policies and procedures as new products or services are introduced
• Participate in the development and enhancement of revenue accounting policies, controls, and procedures

Contract Review & Deal Support

• Collaborate with Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal teams to review customer contracts for revenue recognition impacts
• Identify non-standard contract terms and escalate to management with recommended accounting treatment

Operational Support & Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy of the revenue close process
• Support system enhancements and process standardization across quote-to-cash workflows
• Contribute to documentation of key controls and procedures

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Billing Operations, Revenue Operations, and Financial Planning & Analysis teams to ensure alignment across revenue-related processes
• Support audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of revenue accounting experience
• Public accounting experience preferred
• At least 2 years of experience with SaaS and/or professional services revenue models
• Familiarity with quote-to-cash processes and revenue systems (experience with NetSuite and Salesforce is a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
