Overview

A fast-growing SaaS company is seeking a Senior Accountant specializing in revenue accounting to join their expanding accounting team. This role involves managing revenue recognition under ASC 606 in a high-volume, complex transaction environment. The position requires strong technical accounting skills and the ability to work with large, complex datasets. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with Finance Systems, Revenue Operations, Legal, and Billings teams.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Accounting and working alongside the Revenue Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities

Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)

  • Support month-end revenue close, including preparation of revenue-related journal entries
  • Assist with reconciliations of invoices, deposits, and other revenue-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Review customer contracts to identify performance obligations, determine transaction price, and assess allocation and recognition timing under ASC 606
  • Maintain and improve revenue recognition documentation and memos for audit and technical accounting purposes

Data Analysis & Reconciliations

  • Reconcile revenue sub-ledger to the general ledger across Salesforce, Stripe, and contract management systems in a high-volume transaction environment
  • Run SQL queries to extract and analyze revenue data from the data warehouse (Snowflake) to support reconciliations, variance analysis, and ad hoc investigations
  • Identify and investigate data anomalies, escalate systemic issues, and collaborate with Billings, Finance Systems, and Revenue Operations to resolve root causes
  • Build and maintain scalable reconciliation frameworks to handle volume and complexity

Audit & Technical Accounting

  • Prepare PBC schedules, technical accounting memos, and supporting documentation for external auditors (Big 4)
  • Support ongoing revenue recognition remediation efforts and process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with ad hoc technical accounting research and policy documentation as the business evolves

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Finance Systems, Revenue Operations, Legal, and Billing teams on contract review and order-to-cash process design

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience with a focus on revenue accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of ASC 606, including contract review
  • Experience handling high transaction volumes and working with ambiguous or messy data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear communication of findings
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Billings, Legal, and Revenue Operations
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification or active candidacy
  • Experience at Big 4 or public accounting firms with revenue-focused clients
  • Proficiency in NetSuite
  • SQL proficiency for querying large datasets to support revenue analysis and reconciliation
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses
  • Experience in SaaS or high-growth startup environments

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $112,600 to $140,800 USD total cash compensation (base salary plus annual bonus as applicable)
  • Salary range may vary based on experience, qualifications, and location
