Overview
This role provides correction services for retirement plan clients using IRS and DOL correction programs. Responsibilities include preparing correction packets, performing Microsoft Excel calculations, conducting technical research and analysis, providing consulting support, contributing to training and course development, and completing special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide consulting services to internal and external clients on technical correction issues, IRS and DOL guidance, and internal processes and procedures.
- Adopt and support emerging technologies (e.g., AI and automation) and evolving practices that improve efficiency and outcomes.
- Conduct correction presentations for Client Services training tailored for the Plan Services Group.
- Deliver internal basic technical training.
- Review, audit, and update basic and intermediate training procedures (internal or external) related to IRS and DOL corrections.
- Perform document reviews demonstrating functional knowledge of relevant client documents.
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of plan forms and notices.
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of business unit policies and procedures.
- Independently perform fee-for-service correction engagements.
- Assist with advanced fee-for-service correction consultations.
- Participate in special projects, including IT and project management efforts.
- Complete basic technical research projects and present findings, including updates related to:
- Correction Revenue Procedure updates
- Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program amendments
- Prohibited Transaction Exemption 2002-51 amendments
- Write correction articles and update correction ERISA policy statements and ERISA education research forms as needed.
- Analyze and interpret general legislative, statutory, regulatory, or case law guidance and determine impacts to correction industry and/or correction products, services, and systems.
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of main plans and products and how they affect correction process, procedures, calculations, and forms.
- Maintain basic industry knowledge, including applicable regulatory agencies (e.g., DOL, IRS).
- Enhance technical and industry knowledge by attending continuing education classes.
- Meet department service level standards (SLAs).
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Training & Certification
- Successfully complete ASPPA exams applicable to the area of technical expertise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Knowledge of core code logic and system architecture for BOT tool creations and enhancements, including tools to run DOL calculators instead of manual entry.
- Knowledge of relevant internal tools and programs (examples mentioned include ARK, Salesforce, AXIS).
- Intermediate proficiency in Outlook and MS Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Excellent client service skills and professional interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks within given timeframes and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Sound business judgment and risk awareness.

Preferred Qualifications
- ASPPA designations preferred (not all mandatory). Examples include: QKA, QKS, QKC, QPA, CPC, QP3.
- Special consideration for CPA, MBA, JD, or PMP.
- Special consideration given to relevant company experience or industry experience.
