Overview
A fast-growing ecommerce organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst specializing in Merchandising Analytics. This role focuses on driving high-impact decisions at the intersection of finance, data, and merchandising by leveraging SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, and advanced analytics. The analyst will uncover insights related to pricing, assortment, and profitability, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to influence strategy and support growth in a dynamic, data-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Merchandising or Category teams to provide actionable insights on pricing, promotions, assortment decisions, and category profitability.
- Perform Price, Volume, Mix (PVM) analysis to explain business drivers, isolate impacts, and influence commercial decisions through clear financial storytelling.
- Support new SKU, brand, or assortment launches including forecasting, margin modeling, cannibalization analysis, and post-launch performance measurement.
- Collaborate with Marketing and FP&A teams on marketing spend analysis and incrementality to evaluate ROI, trade-offs, and impacts on demand, margin, and inventory.
- Conduct SKU-level analysis, inventory economics, and apply operational rigor to scale retail finance skills into an ecommerce environment.
- Utilize SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, and advanced Excel to extract, analyze, and visualize complex datasets.
- Build scalable reporting and dashboards to inform business strategy.
- Perform in-depth financial modeling, scenario planning, and margin improvement analysis.
- Communicate insights effectively to cross-functional stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or merchandising finance, ideally within retail or ecommerce.
- Strong foundation in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Data Analytics.
- Experience partnering with Merchandising or Category teams in operational finance or analytics roles.
- Proficiency in Price, Volume, Mix (PVM) analysis.
- Hands-on experience with new product launches including forecasting and margin modeling.
- Exposure to marketing spend analysis and incrementality.
- Skilled in SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, and advanced Excel.
- Ability to communicate complex financial insights clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in traditional brick-and-mortar or omnichannel retail finance.
- Background in SKU-level analysis and inventory economics.
