Overview
A leading technology organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join their R&D Finance team. This role focuses on supporting the transition to a unified platform by consolidating various communication services into a single SDK and Console, while managing the financial aspects of cloud infrastructure costs. The position requires a strategic finance partner to work closely with R&D engineering and product teams, focusing on cloud infrastructure spend nearing $470 million annually.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an autonomous finance partner to R&D, Product, and Engineering leadership.
- Lead cross-functional discussions to analyze infrastructure cost surges and determine their drivers.
- Collaborate with Accounting, Engineering, FP&A, and FinOps teams to ensure accurate cost classifications and product-line allocations.
- Drive process automation and maintain data integrity related to cloud costs.
- Lead monthly and quarterly forecasting for R&D hosting infrastructure using dynamic financial models.
- Conduct deep-dive variance analyses linking financial outcomes to product and market dynamics.
- Identify and recommend engineering cost-containment opportunities.
- Partner with product managers to design and track cloud cost-efficiency strategies.
- Lead strategic projects and build flexible financial models for scenario planning and investment trade-offs.
- Track and analyze vendor spend patterns, cloud capacity utilization, and budget consumption.
- Communicate complex financial analyses and cloud cost structures clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in finance roles such as FP&A, operational finance, or strategic corporate finance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex technical issues.
- Expertise in financial modeling using Excel or Google Sheets, especially for cloud infrastructure spend analysis.
- Ability to work independently and thrive in ambiguous environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to translate complex cloud architecture variances to non-financial audiences.
- Experience driving simplification and automation of financial and business processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure or hosting spend in high-growth technology, SaaS, or cloud environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise planning tools (e.g., Anaplan), ERP systems (e.g., Oracle), or cloud cost optimization tools.
- Proficiency in using Generative AI tools to enhance simplification and automation.
Location
This is a remote position; however, candidates located in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, or Washington are not eligible for hire.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required to attend project or team in-person meetings.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary ranges vary by location:
- Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, Washington D.C.: $96,640 - $120,800
- New York, New Jersey, Washington State, California (outside San Francisco Bay area): $102,240 - $127,800
- San Francisco Bay area, California: $113,600 - $142,000
- Eligibility to participate in equity and corporate bonus plans.
