Senior Income Tax Analyst

Position Summary

Assist the Director or Manager of Income Tax Compliance & Accounting with corporate federal and state income tax return filings, extensions, estimated tax payments, and income tax accrual computations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in determining monthly tax accruals ensuring compliance with IRS, GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and regulatory income tax accounting and public utility normalization requirements.
  • Prepare federal consolidated and state income tax returns and claims for refund accurately and timely to minimize tax liability.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly estimated federal and state income tax payments, including allocation among affiliated companies.
  • Prepare estimates and projections of income taxes for budgeting, rate filings, and cash forecasts.
  • Stay informed on changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings to advise management and recommend actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Four years of experience in income tax compliance and accounting. Candidates with a Master's degree, CPA, CMA, CFA, or backgrounds in investment banking or public accounting may receive credit toward the experience requirement.
  • Experience with current and deferred income tax accruals, consolidated federal and unitary state tax return preparation, estimated tax payment calculations, and income tax research referencing authoritative tax literature.

Income Tax Compliance Consultant

Position Summary

Lead and coordinate the Income Tax Compliance & Accounting group to provide accurate and timely income tax reporting and analysis. Provide technical expertise and leadership in income tax accounting matters, coordinate audits by internal and external financial auditors, and manage corporate federal and state income tax return filings and estimated tax payments.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in computation, recording, and documentation of current and deferred tax accruals ensuring compliance with IRS, GAAP, regulatory requirements, and Sarbanes-Oxley provisions.
  • Coordinate department efforts and consolidate results related to tax accruals.
  • Assist with income tax audits by external financial auditors.
  • Coordinate preparation and timely filing of all federal and state income tax returns, including review and consolidation.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and applicable international income tax laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate preparation and review of quarterly estimated tax payments to minimize cash requirements.
  • Represent the organization to tax authorities during audits, respond to information document requests, and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Provide research, evaluation of alternative positions, and strategic recommendations.
  • Direct daily activities of income tax analysts and senior analysts; coordinate overall group activities.
  • Manage projects involving external consultants as needed.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and industry trends; inform management and recommend actions.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external contacts to identify tax minimization opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 4-7 years of related experience with large corporate income taxes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and recommendations to management.
  • Proficient in giving and receiving information in individual and group settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (e.g., Master of Business Taxation) or equivalent license/certification (e.g., CPA).
  • Experience with large advisory or accounting firms or other relevant experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Anticipated starting base pay: $73,700.00 to $120,566.66 per year.
