Senior Project Accountant

Overview

This role supports project financial management, contract administration, billing, and collections. The Senior Project Accountant manages a high volume of invoicing and partners with Project Accountants, Finance Leaders, and Project Managers to ensure projects are set up appropriately and client invoices are accurate and complete.

The position also involves mentoring and training Project Accountants, guiding Project Managers on invoicing and collections, assisting with forecasting and unbilled balances, and serving as a key resource for resolving billing and project accounting challenges. Expertise in Deltek Vantagepoint, contract review, and project accounting is essential.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and support Project Accountants to ensure accurate project setup in Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Mentor and support Project Accountants with contract review to ensure project setup and invoicing conform to contract terms.
• Issue a high volume of invoices, including high complexity invoices, in partnership with Project Managers to ensure invoices sent to clients are correct and appropriate.
• Proactively manage unbilled time and expenses to address aging balances with Project Manager follow-up.
• Submit all invoices to clients.
• Assist Project Managers with accounts receivable tracking and collection efforts.
• Train Project Managers in billing processes and procedures.
• Support onboarding of Project Managers.
• Notarize documents.
• Manage the Missing Rates tool.
• Assist with Project Review Meetings as needed.
• Support Finance Leaders as needed.
• Act as the point of escalation for billing and project challenges and inquiries.
• Provide general accounting support as needed.
• Support project forecasting.

• Knowledge and ability to use Deltek Vantagepoint.
• Knowledge of NELSON Business Insights reporting (Tableau), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and facilitating virtual meetings.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
• Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize tasks to complete work within identified timeframes.
• Proficiency in contract administration, additional services management, and collections resolution as it relates to consulting partners.
• High school diploma required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field strongly preferred.
• 8+ years’ experience in a high volume billing department (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Compensation & Benefits

• National Average Salary range: $65,000 – $90,000
• Compensation factors: based upon years of relevant experience, qualifications/licensure, education, and location.
