Overview
A growing education technology organization is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join their finance team. This role supports accurate financial reporting and scalable revenue operations as the company expands. The Senior Revenue Accountant will report to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting and be responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting, including compliance with US GAAP and ASC 606.
Responsibilities
- Support revenue accounting functions ensuring accurate and timely revenue transaction recording in compliance with US GAAP and ASC 606.
- Perform monthly close tasks related to revenue.
- Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and other analytics to ensure complete and accurate revenue recognition.
- Assist the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting with finance requests, audit inquiries, and other revenue-related matters.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, sales, operations, and other teams to provide guidance on complex revenue transactions.
- Utilize data analytics tools to identify revenue trends and improve forecasting accuracy.
- Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
- Support and maintain internal controls over the order-to-cash cycle, including reporting and accounting estimates.
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of revenue-related systems and tools.
- Analyze revenue-related transactions and variances to budget in collaboration with finance and business teams.
- Resolve complex accounting discrepancies.
- Present actionable financial variance analyses to accounting leadership.
- Mentor staff accountants and help establish departmental best practices.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 4-7 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting or related roles.
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles, specifically ASC 606.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking with a focus on driving process improvements.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite or similar platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex spreadsheets and financial modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data visualization and analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx.
- Experience working with Salesforce or other CRM systems.
- Strong project management and process improvement skills.
- Prior public accounting experience.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $95,000 - $104,000 annually.
