Overview
The Senior Revenue Accountant is a key member of the revenue accounting team responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP, specifically ASC 606, across subscription, services, and usage-based revenue streams. This role emphasizes automation and process improvement and covers the end-to-end revenue recognition process, including contract review, financial close activities, and technical accounting assessments to support a rapidly scaling business.
This position reports to the Revenue Accounting Director and requires an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining rigorous financial controls and high-quality reporting.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on the integration and optimization of AI and new technologies to automate complex accounting processes, such as accelerating month-end close and automating journal entries and reconciliations.
- Develop automated processes and workflows to review contracts for non-standard terms and conditions and determine revenue impact under ASC 606; execute reviews for exceptions.
- Work with the Director of Revenue Accounting and commercial legal team to establish guidelines around acceptable non-standard deal terms.
- Perform monthly and quarterly revenue activities supporting the financial close process, including revenue recognition, fair value allocations, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare quarterly and annual revenue assessments, including standalone selling price and material right considerations.
- Assist in preparing revenue-related disclosures and metrics for internal and external reporting.
- Support revenue automation projects, process improvements, and AI efficiencies to scale the business.
- Assist external auditors with quarterly revenue testing.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
- Experience with ASC 606 required.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and AI tools required; experience with NetSuite and Aptitude/RevStream preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience, ideally with SaaS technology experience from public accounting or industry.
- Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and business acumen.
- Highly adaptable to team and organizational needs.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual cash compensation range: $84,000 to $126,000 USD.
- Compensation includes base salary, on-target commission (if applicable), and annual bonus targets.
- Some roles may be eligible for equity participation through restricted stock units (RSUs) and overtime pay.
