Overview

A leading full-spectrum consumer credit lender operating in the United States and Canada is seeking a Risk Analyst to join their Risk Department. This role focuses on developing, designing, analyzing, and implementing underwriting and portfolio management account risk strategies to support the growth and risk management of lending portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Develop underwriting strategies for assigned loan portfolios to improve performance metrics such as reduced defaults and increased receivables or revenue
  • Collaborate with the Modeling/Scoring team to deploy risk strategies based on new models
  • Create dashboards to monitor and analyze portfolio and segment-level performance, including the effectiveness of implemented strategies
  • Build and automate complex database queries and generate dynamic reports to enhance credit risk insights
  • Investigate data environment issues and prioritize key reporting and analytical tasks
  • Coach and mentor other analysts and serve as a thought leader within the analyst community
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop risk policies, identify actionable insights, and influence business direction through effective communication
  • Gain familiarity with assigned markets and products to tailor underwriting strategies to business goals
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines successfully

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Management, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of credit risk or related analytical experience, preferably in financial services with a focus on consumer lending risk management/scoring
  • Familiarity with credit bureau data and third-party data providers
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to identify improvements, solve problems, and communicate findings effectively
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently and collaboratively
  • High proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, or SAS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Python or R
  • Experience with A/B testing and data visualization tools such as Sigma or Tableau
  • Familiarity with statistical modeling techniques
  • Experience in the Canadian consumer lending market

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $85,000 - $120,000 USD (actual salary will depend on location, skills, experience, and other factors)
