Overview
A growing accounting firm is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to lead its tax function, serve as a trusted advisor to clients, and mentor team members. This role offers the opportunity to influence the tax practice's development and contribute to a collaborative, flexible work environment.
Responsibilities
Client Work & Strategy
- Review and oversee preparation of business and individual tax returns
- Develop proactive tax strategies for clients across various industries
- Partner with clients to identify planning opportunities and optimize tax outcomes
Internal Leadership & Quality
- Act as the primary resource for all tax-related matters within the firm
- Support and review work performed by managers and team members
- Establish best practices, processes, and standards for tax work
Team Development
- Train and mentor staff on tax concepts, strategy, and execution
- Provide ongoing feedback to improve quality and consistency
Build the Function
- Play a key role in building and scaling the tax function over time
- Contribute to hiring, organizational structure, and long-term growth of the tax function
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required)
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting
- Strong experience with both business and individual tax
- Prior experience reviewing returns and managing work quality
- Experience mentoring and managing team members
- Desire to take ownership and grow the tax function
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $150,000 to $200,000, depending on experience
