Overview
A rapidly growing, private equity-backed SaaS company is seeking a Tax Manager to build and enhance its tax function. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-growth environment with visibility across the organization, influence key initiatives, and establish scalable tax processes in preparation for future growth.
Responsibilities
- Manage federal, state, local, and international tax compliance processes.
- Review and coordinate preparation of federal and state income tax returns with external tax advisors.
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740.
- Oversee sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage state and local tax (SALT) filings and nexus analysis.
- Support tax planning initiatives to optimize the effective tax rate.
- Partner with Finance during monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Assist with tax implications related to acquisitions, integrations, and legal entity restructuring.
- Coordinate responses for federal, state, and local tax audits.
- Evaluate changes in tax legislation and assess impacts on the business.
- Develop scalable tax processes, documentation, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Payroll, and external advisors on cross-functional initiatives.
- Support annual financial statement audits and tax-related disclosures.
- Assist with special projects including international expansion, transfer pricing, and transaction-related tax matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA required (or CPA actively maintained).
- 6–10+ years of progressive tax experience.
- Combination of Big 4/Public Accounting and industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with ASC 740 tax provision.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation.
- Experience supporting high-growth SaaS, software, or technology companies preferred.
- Experience in a private equity-backed environment highly preferred.
- Familiarity with multi-state operations and nexus requirements.
- Experience working with external tax firms and auditors.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SaaS or recurring revenue business models.
- Familiarity with subscription billing environments.
- M&A due diligence and acquisition integration experience.
- International tax exposure.
- Transfer pricing knowledge.
- Experience with R&D tax credits.
- Stock compensation tax matters.
- NetSuite ERP experience.
- Experience with Avalara, OneSource, Vertex, or similar tax software.
- Workiva experience is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $140,000–$180,000, depending on experience.
