Overview

A rapidly growing, private equity-backed SaaS company is seeking a Tax Manager to build and enhance its tax function. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-growth environment with visibility across the organization, influence key initiatives, and establish scalable tax processes in preparation for future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage federal, state, local, and international tax compliance processes.
  • Review and coordinate preparation of federal and state income tax returns with external tax advisors.
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740.
  • Oversee sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage state and local tax (SALT) filings and nexus analysis.
  • Support tax planning initiatives to optimize the effective tax rate.
  • Partner with Finance during monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Assist with tax implications related to acquisitions, integrations, and legal entity restructuring.
  • Coordinate responses for federal, state, and local tax audits.
  • Evaluate changes in tax legislation and assess impacts on the business.
  • Develop scalable tax processes, documentation, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Payroll, and external advisors on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Support annual financial statement audits and tax-related disclosures.
  • Assist with special projects including international expansion, transfer pricing, and transaction-related tax matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA required (or CPA actively maintained).
  • 6–10+ years of progressive tax experience.
  • Combination of Big 4/Public Accounting and industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ASC 740 tax provision.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local taxation.
  • Experience supporting high-growth SaaS, software, or technology companies preferred.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed environment highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-state operations and nexus requirements.
  • Experience working with external tax firms and auditors.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SaaS or recurring revenue business models.
  • Familiarity with subscription billing environments.
  • M&A due diligence and acquisition integration experience.
  • International tax exposure.
  • Transfer pricing knowledge.
  • Experience with R&D tax credits.
  • Stock compensation tax matters.
  • NetSuite ERP experience.
  • Experience with Avalara, OneSource, Vertex, or similar tax software.
  • Workiva experience is a plus.

  • Base salary range: $140,000–$180,000, depending on experience.
