Overview

The organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Accounting team remotely or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. This role partners closely with the Controller and other members of the Accounting team across core finance and accounting functions, with a balance of general ledger ownership and specialized technical accounting exposure.

Responsibilities

Perform day-to-day accounting duties across AP, AR, cash management, payroll, fixed assets, the general ledger, and other duties as assigned.
Support the monthly close by posting monthly journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and conducting ad-hoc financial analysis.
Research and apply appropriate accounting treatments for transactions, complex contracts, and specialized accounting areas, including:
- ASC 606
- ASC 842
- ASC 718
- ASC 805
Manage complex schedules and compliance updates related to lease accounting and inventory accounting models.
Coordinate with external accountants during audits.
Maintain regular communication and build strong working relationships with internal groups to support high-quality work products.
Assist with special projects and ad-hoc assignments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
4–6 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; ideally a mix of public accounting and private industry experience.
Direct hands-on experience applying ASC 606 (Revenue), ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 718 (Stock-Based Compensation), and ASC 805 (Business Combinations).
Strong working knowledge of GAAP.
Demonstrated ability to manage month-end close schedules and complex account reconciliations independently.
Prior experience supporting M&A accounting, business combinations, or technical accounting implementation projects (e.g., purchase price allocation, valuation).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with trustworthiness.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to senior management.
Precision/detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
Proven ability to identify and drive process/system improvements.
Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize competing tasks, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
